Voco Johannesburg Rosebank will be the first in Africa
Voco Johannesburg Rosebank will be the first time this brand opens in Africa. Billed as a type of hotel that offers service without stuffiness, it’s in ‘The Bank’ development on the corner of Cradock and Tyrwhitt avenues which also offers the sensational ‘Proud Mary’ restaurant. The building used to house FNB.
Blend Property Group kicked off the R500-million development in late 2018 and the transformation was completed early this year. Voco Rosebank is set to open its doors in the middle of this year; it also showcases one of the largest collections of the original south African artworks in one location, with more than 800 art pieces ranging from oils, watercolours and acrylic paintings to charcoals, photographs and collages.
It’s worth noting that also within ‘The Bank’ will be ‘Workshop 17’ with co-working and shared office space. So the 14 000m2 commercial property has all the work-and-play amenities from hot desks and boardrooms to coffee shops, wine bars and restaurants.
Voco The Bank is operated by Valor Hospitality, under agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group so it has informality of an individual boutique hotel coupled with the reassurance of a global, respected brand. It’s spread over six levels of the 12-storey building. The hotel will have 131 rooms.
