A tranquil respite & a play area at The Secret Tea Garden
This is our third post about places worth heading to, when we need to find a good play areas for the kids and a place for us to enjoy at the same time.
If you’re looking for a manicured and tranquil setting for a spot of tea or lunch, the Secret Tea Garden fits the bill and it’s a lovely respite from the abundance of malls and shopping centres in the Bryanston area.
It all takes place in front of a large Cape Dutch building, which sets the scene as a background manor. There’s a kids area to one side of the restaurant, and you couldn’t hope for more space on the sprawling lawn. The staff is friendly, and the food was incredibly tasty and very good value. For once, each of us enjoyed our meal from the chicken & pasta to the mid-day breakfast to spaghetti bolognaise. Everything is outside, though one can sit on the patio if you choose.
The contained children’s play area is well maintained, and round the other side of the house there’s even a gin bar, to add a bit of spice to the mix of this suburban restaurant and destination.
The Secret Tea Garden is part of a larger community offering of Norscot Manor, with its library and pre-school along with classes and courses in health and fitness, dancing and language, domestic courses and childcare as well as community concerns. Well, in more normal times at any rate.
