SculptX heads back to Melrose Arch
The 3rd edition of SculptX, the largest annual sculpture fair in South Africa, has returned to Melrose Arch until September 29th. Hosted by The Melrose Gallery, SculptX features more than 200 artworks from about 90 established and emerging sculptors. The sculptures are on display inside the gallery and on the streets of the precinct, and the fair also offers free art talks and panel discussions throughout the month.
SculptX was formed by The Melrose Gallery in association with Melrose Arch, to provide a platform to promote sculpture and sculptors. The works come from different cities around the country, and the mediums are expansive from bronze to steel, found objects and stone to wood, crystal, glass, grass, fibre glass, carbon fibre and even virtual reality. Artists include Noria Mabasa, Willie Bester, Pitika Ntuli, Vusi Khumalo, Wilma Cruise, Gordon Froud, Adejoke Tugbiyele and Strijdom van der Merwe.
