Basalt opens up at The Peech Boutique Hotel

Basalt is a fresh feature on the neighbourhood culinary scene and sure to be an exciting one. The new restaurant at The Peech Hotel in Melrose showcases contemporary cuisine with former head chef at The Pot Luck Club in Cape Town, Freddie Dias, now at the helm. He will be using top locally sources seasonal produce and a straight-forward selection of entrees, mains and desserts, with specials added as ingredients allow.

With capacity for 40 patrons in the restaurant it’s an intimate space. The contemporary cool grey interior is energized with plush red velvet chairs and the restaurant is situated in the original heritage house overlooking the hotel’s main entrance. The Peech Boutique Hotel is all about understated luxury, and has been a popular hotel since 2004 when it opened its doors to the public. The hotel has been awarded Best City Boutique Hotel in Africa and has doubled in room size of a recent addition of 16 new luxury rooms.
